[Activity Report] Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Auckland–Fukuoka Sister City Relationship!
2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the sister city partnership between Auckland and Fukuoka. To commemorate this milestone, a celebration was held at the Fukuoka Garden in Auckland in July 2026. As a JCTA member, I attended and filmed the event to record our community's involvement!
On that beautiful day, Fukuoka Mayor Soichiro Takashima, local supporters, and members of the Japanese community gathered to celebrate our enduring friendship.

【活動報告】オークランド市・福岡市 姉妹都市提携40周年記念イベントに参加しました！
2026年は、オークランド市と福岡市が姉妹都市提携を結んで40周年の節目となります。これを記念し、2026年7月に市内の福岡庭園で開催された記念イベントにJCTAメンバーとして参加・撮影を行ってきました！
当日は快晴に恵まれ、福岡市の高島宗一郎市長をはじめ、地元のボランティアや関係者、日本人コミュニティの皆さんが集まり、温かい雰囲気の中で節目をお祝いしました。
イベントの主な内容

両市の共通点: 高島市長は、都市の利便性と豊かな自然が融合するオークランドと福岡の共通点に触れ、再訪の喜びを語りました。

福岡庭園への感謝: 9年ぶりに庭園を訪れた高島市長は、維持管理に励むボランティアへ感謝を述べ、「時間の経過とともに深まる苔のように、両市の友情も成熟してきた」と語りました。

高校生交流の拡大: 40周年を機に交流事業を一層推進するため、高校生の相互訪問枠をこれまでの年1名から「毎年5名程度」へと拡大する方針が明かされました。

草の根の繋がり: 在オークランド日本国総領事からも、庭園を支える地域コミュニティの力と草の根交流の大切さが再確認されました。
両市の絆の深まりを実感する貴重な機会となりました。
