spirit. The day began with the powerful sound of Japanese taiko drums, setting the atmosphere for a lively celebration. From traditional performances to music and singing, visitors enjoyed a wonderful variety of entertainment presented by talented performers who share their love of Japan. For many visitors, Kia Ora Japan was also an opportunity to discover the quieter and more delicate side of Japanese culture. A traditional tea ceremony offered a glimpse into the Japanese values of hospitality, respect and attention to detail. There were plenty of opportunities to do more than simply watch. Visitors could try Japanese calligraphy, origami, traditional toys and creative workshops — giving children and adults the chance to experience Japanese culture for themselves.
